Sep 18, 2012 · Please make sure the PICkit2 shows support for the device selected. If it is RED then we do not support it. We support the same devices under MPLAB X that we do under MPLAB 8. We are currently not adding new device support to PICkit2. Thanks

I installed MPLAB release v2.26 from Microchip's website. However, in this version of MPLAB, it is not detecting my Pickit-2. Hovering over the "Tools" field of MPLAB window indeed reveals that Pickit-2 is not supported, as shown in the attached screen-shot. I want to ask which version of MPLAB supports Pickit 2? Or, does MPLAB even support it?

PICkit2 works also under MPLAB X, although it is not "officially" supported—Microchip would prefer you to invest in the newer PICkit3. I did, but I'm still keeping the PICkit2! I like the pk2cmd command-line utility better, and overall the PICkit2 seems the most reliable of all my programmers.

Mar 04, 2013 · Google finds all sorts of conflicting information. Is it possible (and if so, how) to use a PICkit 2 to program a PIC16F84A from within MPLAB IDE (ver. 8.89)? (I know that the Pickit 2 will program the PIC16F84A from PICkit 2 v. 2.61; my question pertains to MPLAB.) Thanks.

Dec 08, 2016 · I was wrong; MPLAB X IDE does seem to support PICkit2. I was using the wrong way to make a project. However, I'm not sure how which constants and macros in the header file I can use; what's the easiest way to find out? Edit: windows > PIC memory views > SFRs is very useful I still can't find out how to use the GPIO pins for a PIC10F220 though...
