Did some more research and found out that the Motorola SBG900 does not support UPnP so looks like I'll have to go back to the standard cable modem and wireless router set-up or find a wireless cable modem that supports UPnP. Really would much rather have the wireless option so I don't have to have the extra equipment on my desk.

If you plan on using bittorrent, it is strongly recommended you get the wired based modem (Motorola SB5101) from Telstra and connect your own third party router. However, if you need to use bittorrent, you can use the single ethernet port on the back of the router which will work reliably.

Dec 20, 2011 · I have a Motorola SBG900 (modem and router), provided by Telstra and cable internet. For a while I have struggled with playing online games probably due to my router. After looking at internet forums such as this one, I managed to port forward a bit to get some games to work. However, I find this quite tedious and it often does not work.

Emule is working correctly but because I have the routers firewall turned off. Ports are open. I want to have the routers firewall configured as CUSTOM using security template as HIGH.
