Note, however, that just because SBS 2011 is supported, that does not mean that everything you attempt to run *on* SBS will be supported.

Sep 15, 2011 · This will work, assuming your host computer OS is 64 bit and the hardware has VT support (required for 64 bit guest). I have run SBS 2011 on both ESXi and Linux with workstation 7. When finished, the production server will be on ESX along with 2 other Windows servers and a workstation running Voicemail.

The tech did say that they need to do some driver tweaking to get this migration working in Hyper-V, but the MS techs don't have any training in VMware and installing SBS 2011 in VMware is not currently supported by them.

Jul 15, 2014 · I recently moved my SBS 2011 Server (20 GB assigned Memory) from a Dell standalone box running VMware 4.1 to another VMware box running VMware 5.5 starting out with SATA 7200 RPM drives and had little improvement.

Jul 05, 2013 · SBS is not licensed to run in a VM, and honestly you probably don't want to run it as a VM as there are very small benefits in doing so in such small environment. I'm in a middle of migrating one of my customers away from SBS that runs in a VM. Performance was sub-par, so I don't recommend it.
