Dec 15, 2015 · The surface seems to prefer 2.4Ghz Wireless N above 5Ghz AC in "Auto" mode (see driver options). When forcing the driver to 5Ghz only, then it suddenly works fine, but that's not an ideal solution because this limits my options in public places or hotspot connectivity with iPhone.
