Jun 03, 2015 · If the drive is for sharing - then Fat32 is the way to go. If you only plan to use it on a mac - use HFS+ (native to Macs). If you plan to use it for Time Machine, use HFS+. If you plan to share, and need to store really large files (e.g. videos > 2GB), then use NTFS.

Nov 01, 2016 · Maybe I phrased that wrong by saying Fat32. Anyway, SD cards created with PCs that are greater than 32gb have not been Mac readable in the past. However, SD cards created with the Mac disc utility using MS Dos Fat will work for both, so that's the workaround. I was wondering if Sierra eliminated the need to do this.
