Jan 19, 2010 · Well, now you have a perfect come-back. The newest, fast interface, USB 3.0 is out and only Linux has native support for it. Linux started supporting USB 3.0 in the September 2009 release of the 2.6.31 Linux kernel. Neither Windows 7 nor Snow Leopard currently supports USB 3.Author: Linuxplanet

so, USB 2.0 support maximum packet size as 512 bytes while USB 3.0 supports maximum packet size as 1024 bytes. It seems that my device is enumerated as USB 2.0 Device not as USB 3.0 Device. Is there any older kernel (2.6.32) issue which can not able to enumerate USB 3.0 Device or any thing else?

Jun 17, 2017 · I have an option for XHCI hand-off to be enabled or disabled and it is enabled. And going from off to mint or windows to mint does not give me 3.0 ports. I found out that I gain 3.0 if i turn off IOMMU but lose 2.0 ports and my ethernet port, so currently IOMMU is enabled. Any other ideas? Or is there a way for me to install the 3.0 controller?

USB 3.0 not working in linux mint. I've recently built my first PC and got it all working (yay!) except for the USB 3.0 ports. I don't think any of the USB 3.0 ones are working, there are some in the MB/back and also a couple at the front, I did plug in the USB 3.0 wire from the case to the mb, and made sure the USB 3.0 option is enabled in BIOS.

Dec 30, 2016 · Answer Wiki. I think the Targus USB 3.0 Docking Station works fine with Linux, especially Ubuntu 15.04, because one of my colleague is using that docking station. Personally, I’m using the Lenovo ThinkPad USB 3.0 Docking Station, and it works perfectly with Ubuntu 16.04, which is the installed OS on my Lenovo Thinkpad X1 right now.

Jan 18, 2018 · USB drivers are actually part of the Linux kernel. CentOS 7 is on Kernel 3.10, which supports USB 3.0 (it has been supported since kernel 2.6.31). If you're looking for full USB 3.1 support (including gen2 superspeed support), that became part of the Linux kernel in 4.6, which will presumably come in a future CentOS release.
