W2K does not support WPA. So you may not be able to use WPA feature of this adapter. You can select the WPA security on the router and whenever you try to connect to your Wireless network it will detect the security type as WPA for you.

The newest driver release notes for the WPC11 adapter say that it added support for WPA encryption. I can't seem to enable this function. The wireless monitor utility only allows me to select WEP. The version is 4 I believe. I'm trying to connect to the Linksys WRT54G router. I've updated the firmware for it recently (I think it's version 4.21.1).

The WPC11 will not do WPA encryption. It will only do WEP. You could downgrade the encryption on all your wireless devices to WEP, however WEP is no longer recommended. The FBI has demonstrated that WEP can be cracked in a few minutes, using software tools that are readily available on the web.

Aug 10, 2007 · Hi guys, I'll be getting an older Wireless card (Linksys WPC11 ver. 3) for an old P1 laptop that I have. However, since the card is so old, It does not support WPA2. It does support regular WPA via a driver update. I have a trendnet router that suppports WEP, WPA, and WPA2, with the current encryption being WPA2.
