Re: Can the 3560 L3 switch NAT Well no, you can do quite a few other things as well such as QOS, multicast etc. but not NAT. There are a few people who would like to see NAT on some of the lower end switches :-)

NAT problems on a L3 3650 switch. My hosts on my NAT Vlan (Vlan 2) do not seem able to ping anywhere else than the switch itself (all its interfaces) and their local subnet. Pings from the switch to outside are fine (NAT debug enabled): Type escape sequence to abort.

Hi all, I'm looking for a low cost switch that supports layer 3 IP routing along with NAT/PAT functionality. Ideally it will have 24 RJ45 GbEth ports. Can anyone suggest a suitable model. Static NAT to Layer 3 Intervlan Switch. I have a design in mind which would implement a layer 3 switch with 3 VLANs, all vlan would point at the switch as the default gateway and then the switch would route all traffic to a ASA Firewall. My question relates to how would I create a static NAT to an internal device from the firewall.

A Layer 2 switch works with MAC addresses only and does not care about IP address or any items of higher layers. A Layer 3 switch can do all the job that a Layer 2 switch does. Additionally, it can do static routing and dynamic routing. That means, a Layer 3 switch …

Apr 05, 2006 · There is no support in the hardware path. When you use the NAT router feature on a Catalyst 6500 with Supervisor Engine 1/2 and MSFC/MSFC2, packets that traverse the NAT outside interface can (in certain configurations) undergo software routing instead of Layer 3 (L3) switching.
