Photoplus 6 is a free program from Serif. It does do layers, and is actually fairly powerful for freeware. It's actually an older photo editing program, but I like it so well I was willing to pay and I've upgraded several times and now have Photoplus 11.

Oct 09, 2007 · Is there a way to be able to "take apart" a PSD file to view the separate layers? I've looked and could not find it. But then again my version of Irfanview is 3.85 so do not know if that capability is in 4.00. I know that PSD files can be viewed but wanted to be able to view the different layers in a picture when I know there are some in the pic.

Aug 24, 2008 · with the GIMP (since Irfanview does a better job at using PS filters then the GIMP). The problem with Irfanview is lack of layer support. All editors have their respective learning curve, but if you are going to be serious about post processing, then you need an editor that can work with layers. I have CS2 as well and it is quite powerful too.
