Jun 05, 2013 · safari doesn't browse ftp, it hands it off to Finder or whatever app is the default. direct links to files rather than directories should open or download in Safari (do here on 5.1.7) eg:

Apr 28, 2008 · #4 You don't, but you just can't use Safari. Finder does do FTP though. From finder hit cmd+k (this is also in one of the Finder menus) and a connect to server window should pop up. Type or copy in the address and the FTP server should mount as a network drive.

Apr 15, 2003 · Location: bat country. #4 all official builds of safari should download files from ftp servers like normal downloads and mount ftp servers in the finder like a network disk. it sounds like you're using version 64 (i was too until this morning) which did not allow ftp downloads for some reason.

Mobile Safari is a browser with limited functionality. Personally, i dislike it. It is good browser for web-surfing and stuff, but it's not very useful for developer. Yeah, the problem though is that I am forced to add the ftp link on our website, and I need to prompt the user for the auth info.
