Does IE7 or IE8 fully support the *progressive* display of JPEG progressive transcoded images? I've seen on blogs that as of IE2.0, they are partially supported--meaning that the browser displays the image all at once instead of progressively.

SO: IE7 has a serious bug. It is not that IE7 does not display JPEG images in files with extension .png. From an erroneous file, IE7 is free to produce what ever it wants. However, for no image should IE7 simply stop reading ALL images whatsoever. Is this the right place to report this bug???

IE 6 is a major problem to Web developers (IE 7 is a problem as well, but for now, let's overlook that, since it does at least implement PNG alpha), and the sooner it stops being used, the better. Instead of using this hack, users of IE 6 should be encouraged to upgrade to IE 7.

Mar 28, 2012 · Thanks for the response. I've gone through that MS Support page with no improvement. IE does display both jpg and gif graphics. Tried to "re-register" the pngflt.dll file (per another MS Support suggestion) and got the message "Dll Register Server entry point not found.

Jul 15, 2015 · I cannot view .png pages in Internet Explorer. I think this problem ends up sounding sort of weird when other people, or I write it out. ... I can view PNG images if they are on a webpage. But if I click on a link that leads to PNG image ... but have not had it with IE7 or newer. But, back in the IE5, 5.5, 6 era, PNG images were much less common.
