Dec 24, 2012 · All other browsers support some other format of the favicon other than .ico and I was just wondering if IE10 finally fixed this so people do not have to make a special format just for the favicon and can use existing .png files.

As you can see from this one, a favicon with both a PNG and a Bitmap will render the bitmap in IE on Windows XP and the PNG in IE on modern versions of Windows.
