    Jun 11, 2019 · Therefore AviSynth doesn't use anything 'under the hood'. Once again, you open AviSynth scripts in programs that do the encoding. I use RipBot264 which uses the x264 encoder. I suppose handbrake does use ffmpeg, but I don't know for sure as I don't (and won't) use it.

    Jul 21, 2019 · Pascel era NVENC (on the 1080 Ti) does support B frames and it is better quality than the earlier generations, but still not great. x264 is definitely better quality than H.264 encoding with the NVENC on a 1080 Ti. Things like Handbrake all use x264 as their software encoder, but there is other software that can encode video to H.264 as well.
