Apr 09, 2011 · I was wondering if it's overclock a SB cpu on the H61 motherboards. I already have a P67 and i7 k series CPU and want to get a H61 + regular series for a friend. I'm not looking to overclock very much, just minor OC. Is it possible to OC on a H61 at all?

Jul 18, 2011 · After doing a web search a few minutes ago apparently you can't OC CPU on H61/H67. It seems OC Genie on H61/H67 is only for OC of integrated graphics on those MB's. I was assuming those would OC CPU same as the P67, seems I assumed too much.

May 24, 2011 · I was going through the MSI Z68A-GD80 motherboard review and it says that "H67 is directed at mainstream, does not allow any overclocking yet comes with monitor output support like HDMI, DVI and DisplayPort" Could someone plz explain to what extent does a H67/H61 motherboard "not allow overclocking" compared to a Z68.

Oct 07, 2013 · No overclocking since i'm on an H61, however i'm confused on how good an i5 i can get. This states i can only get up to an i5-3350P. However, i've seen other manufacturers' boards with H61 chipsets be compatible up to the i5-3570k and i7 3770k. Here's Intel's H61 compatibility list; it too states every CPU compatible.Memory: 8gb

Jul 11, 2012 · Well, the H61 chipset does not allow CPU overclocking, so that's impossible. If the BIOS has base clock adjustment you maybe able to get 3-5MHz, giving a few hundred MHz at most, but an LE board will not offer much overhead at all.

Jul 23, 2012 · Does anyone know what the real diff between a H61 and an H67 chipset is? This thread was talking about the H61 not having SATA 6Gb/s support, but that is not true - check this ! So if it has SATA 6gb/s and USB 3.0 support then what is it lacking for intel to price it lower, is it just the number of ports and absence of RST?

Important: Below is a support list for the H61 Express chipset, and not a support list for your motherboard, built on that chipset. The chipset is only one of key elements that determine CPU compatibility. Other key factors are: socket type, package type, maximum Thermal Design Power, BIOS version, CPU core name and stepping.

Aug 25, 2015 · The majority of CPUs and motherboards’ multipliers are locked and therefore unable to support overclocking. If you’re interested in overclocking, you’ll need to make sure you have the right type of CPU: Intel CPUs – look for products with a ‘k’ in the name.

Nov 10, 2012 · H77 doesn't allow overclocking either. Only P67, Z68, Z75 and Z77 can adjust CPU clock multipliers. Out of those, P67 and Z68 are last gen chipsets but they support Ivy Bridge with updated BIOSes. Z68 boards marked Gen3 support PCIe 3.0 with Ivy Bridge CPUs. But Z77 is the natural option to go with if you're getting a 3570K.
