Jun 06, 2008 · Does DVI support 1080p? Ok, so im going to buy an EVGA 8800gts which supports high def blu ray and all the fancy stuff which is what I want. My concern is all of them have a DVI output. I have dvi to hdmi cables but dont know if I will get a 1080i or 1080p signal? Any advice will be appreciated.

Aug 28, 2008 · I'm actually getting 1080i not 1080p, because I don't have a Blu-Ray drive, just an ATSC (DTV/HDTV) tuner, in my PC. However, the specs for my graphics card (Diamond Stealth ATI Radeon HD 2400 Pro) do include 1080x1920x60Hz and support HDCP over the DVI connector, so when I someday add a Blu-Ray drive to my PC, I will get 1080p.

Sep 18, 2008 · Anyway, my quick question is this - I have a Samsung LE32R51BD telly. As best as I can tell, it does not do the panel's native res of 1366x768 over HDMI, just 1280x720. Now, I connected my HTPC to the TV via HDMI, because I thought I would need to do so to play HD DVD and Blu-Ray discs (for HDCP reasons).

Oct 12, 2014 · The HDMI-STB is for your cable or satellite box, the DVI is for a Blu-Ray or other device. They are virtually the same except that they correspond to different buttons on the remote control. The TV does not seem to recognize what is plugged into it or not - it is not a very smart TV!
