Sep 25, 2006 · Just to back the other guys up, my Samsung HDTV only has the component connections and only outputs in 1080i or 480 (no 720p). My 921 has worked flawlessy for 20 months now with the YPbPr/1080i configuration.

Feb 07, 2010 · Component cables can in theory support 1080p, but in practice are limited to 720p or 1080i. Note that HD cable programming is only in 720p or 1080i, not 1080p. Only a few on-demand satellite programs are 1080p.

Jul 20, 2013 · The HDMI cable will provide you with the best video for consumers and it also support the 7.1 audio. With component cable you only get video up to 720P and must use an optical cable for the audio. By the time you purchase the component cable and optical cable it will be more money than a single HDMI cable. That is if your tv has the HDMI input.

My HD digital cable box can output 1080i through both component and HDMI/DVI. Xbox 360 can also output 1080i. Anyway, I believe I have already found the answer to my question. The chip used by the 2407 can only deinterlace standard definition (i.e., 480i) signals, and not high definition 1080i signals.

My DLP has 2 hdmi inputs, but one is really for a pc hook-up(only has birhgtness, contrast tint for the settings, where as HDMI1 has settings to change individual colors, and other specs.) However, things are not ideal because support for that signal is unofficial: the CEA did not approve it as part of the standard.

Mar 16, 2012 · Why can I get my Xbox 360/cable boxes to display 1080i but not Apple TV (3rd gen/1080p)? Because the Xbox 360 and cable boxes support 1080i, and the Apple TV does not? Perhaps it really is that simple. Even if the hardware is capable of it (and I'm not saying it is), it's possible for Apple not to implement it.
