The digital coaxial is an older, analog connection. The fiber-optic cable is a light source, and is not interrupted by outside interferences.

Dec 18, 2006 · Yes. digital coax does carry a 5.1 signal for your system I wouldn't spend any money on an expensive cable anything with a phono connector on each end will do (I and many other people would argue that a bent coathanger will suffice for any system as it's a digital signal it either works or it doesn't)
