As far as I know VSS is only supported on 4500, 6500, 6800 switches. However if you mean a pair of stacked 3850s and you then uplink an access switch using etherchannel and spread the etherchannel over both 3850s then this is supported.

Well i was looking at Cisco's guide on 3750's and it says The PAgP protocol is not supported on cross- stack EtherChannels. Yes the 3750's are single stacked and the vss is working fine.

"PAgP is supported in all platforms except the Cisco Catalyst 37xx stack configuration in which cross-stack EtherChannel (LACP) is required to have MEC-connectivity with the VSS. Because cross-stack EtherChannel does not support PAgP, it cannot use enhanced PAgP for dual-active detection.

Aug 29, 2014 · If you are familiar with Cisco Stackwise technology in 3750/3850 switches, VSS is probably more comparable to those except VSS only supports up to two switches and instead of using Stackwise cables, it uses multiple 10G links for interconnecting switches (i.e. VSL).

If I remember correctly, VSS used to be a 6500 only technology but now the newer 4500s chassis can support VSS as long as it is equipped with the right supervisor – like Sup 7E. Stacking Catalyst 3750 does not need any manual configuration.

Aug 05, 2015 · GNS3 is incapable of emulating the ASICs required to support the underlying VSS technology. In an enterprise environment VSS is a set and forget technology and so there is not much demand to emulate it in software. Nor do any of the major on-line rack renters offer this as an option.
