I have complained to BT and received a ridiculous answer from someone abroad. To fix it I have changed - Account Settings - Server Settings - Connection security from STARTTLS to SSL/TLS. I don't know what the effect of this is, but I can send and receive emails. What a pity the support is so poor.

Jun 07, 2011 · the reason of the problem is that your SSL is enabled on 25th port. to fix this problem , please open your windows live mail program, go to tools>accounts, select your account and press properties . go to ADVANCED tab and UNCHECK the ssl option for outgoing port (25) after doing this press ok and try to send. you will be able to send. if you still have problems please let me know.
