Aperture will only read DNG files from some camera but not DNG converted ... It does support supported .DNG files that are converted using the option mentioned above.

Nov 13, 2019 · A file with the DNG file extension is most likely an Adobe Digital Negative Raw Image file. The format is a response to the lack of an open standard for digital camera raw formats. Other raw files can be converted to DNG so that a wider variety of software can use the images.

Apr 29, 2010 · Aperature vs Lightroom The two advantages of Lightroom are: 1)all your thumbnails are on your main drive but all your original large files can be on external drives; 2)you can convert all RAW files to Adobe DNG, a universal digital negative format. This is very handy when your camera manufacturer or Apple does not support your RAW format.

Jun 29, 2019 · After all, RAW compatibility came out for the D810 after Aperture was retired, and that works fine. So my plan is to wait a while, hope for a RAW update from Apple that includes D850 support and then download sample D850 NEF files from the web to see if Aperture can handle them. If it does, my order for a D850 will be placed moments thereafter.

DNG is a raw format in that it contains the raw data. Indeed, you can even embed the entire raw file within the DNG if you wish.
