Jul 30, 2018 · So all files (.doc and .docx) are opening in Word 2013 on Windows 10, which is what I would expect. In Word 2003 on Windows 7, I would expect you to get some sort of message, but I admit I get the Convert File dialog because I have the Tools Options General setting "Confirm conversion at Open" enabled (for convenience with mail merges).I'll try disabling that to see if it makes any difference.
