Jan 01, 2009 · No, the red & white RCA stereo cables won't give you true 5.1 surround. You can get Dolby Pro Logic simulated surround, from them though. The only way to get true Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1/6.1 surround is with HDMI, Optical, or digital coax through digital connections.

Jun 15, 2008 · The PS3 simply SENDS a signal to the receiver which is what supports (or creates) the surround sound. There is different kinds of signals... RCA is analog meaning it can only send 2 channels not 5.1, when sending a 2 channel signal to a receiver, you can tell the receiver what to do with that 2 channel signal.
