Aug 17, 2013 · ONLY check 1080p. If you check 720p and 1080p, then the PS3 will play your game in 720p. It defaults to the lower resolution for some reason. You will have to go back and check the 720p box if you play a different game that does not support 1080p though.

Apr 29, 2009 · As far as I know the PS2 cannot do any games in 720p. A 1080i game to add to the list is Dragons Layer. If you do a search on google there is a site or two that has complete lists for most games for xbox, ps2 and GC(maybe) and their playable resolutions.

A lot of the games claim to play in 1080p (GTA 4, Call of Duty - Modern Warfare), but as soon as I leave the PS3 screen, it switches over to 720p. Keeping in mind that the PS3 menu screen has no problems running in 1080p.
