Jul 28, 2009 · Yes, the DNS-323 will require a repartition and reformat of an NTFS drive before it can be used, it MAY also require a repartition and reformat of an ext2 drive if the partition structure does not match what the DNS-323 expects.

The DNS-323 doesn't support NTFS or FAT file systems being a Linux-based box so both drives needed to be formated in either EXT2 or EXT3 (which was added back with f/w 1.08). This raised my first concern, getting at my data if the unit suffered a hardware failure.3.4/5(290)

The DNS-323 does not support external discs, but a small hack allows you to use them on the unit anyway. Before you even try this, you need to have telnet access to your device.

After learning shortly after I purchased a DLink DNS-325 NAS Server that it was actually already discontinued by DLink and unfortunately I was not eligible for a return, I had tried to use it as is with their default firmware.
