Jan 22, 2012 · I have now downloaded and run the two programs you suggested. (The Disk Defrag one suggested that I exclude the D drive so I unticked its box. I hope I did the right thing.) I have taken two screenshots as before, one showing the left-hand extreme and one the right-hand extreme of the window, and will see if I can attach both.

If you have recently installed and then uninstalled a third party defragmenter program, your built in defragmenter may not have been restored properly. Open the Command Prompt as described in point 1 and type cd \windows\system32.5/5(3)
