Nov 29, 2010 · Desktop Effects in Fedora uses Compiz which requires OpenGL 3D Graphics Hardware Support and at the present time VMware's emulated Graphics Adapted is not capable of providing this.

Graphics support improvements - Fedora 12 introduces experimental 3D support for AMD Radeon HD 2400 and later graphics cards. To try it out, install the mesa-dri-drivers-experimental package. On many cards, this support should allow desktop effects to be used.

Nov 20, 2011 · I am running CentOS 6 on a Dell Precision M4300 and I cannot enable Desktop Effects. When I try to enable it I get "Accelerated 3D graphics is not available. Desktop effects requires hardware 3d support."
