Dec 25, 2007 · I have a Dell Dimension 8400 purchased in April of 2005 that will not boot up. The diagnostic lights are Green - Yellow - Yellow - Green, which isn't referred to in anything I've found and after several attempts, it returns an 'Alert!' of, "Previous attempts at booting this system have failed at checkpoint [Ithr].

With the machine unplugged from the wall remove the battery from the motherboard. Then with the machine still unplugged press the On button for several seconds to dissipate any remaining electrical charge on the motherboard. Then re-install the battery, plug the machine back into the wall and see if it will boot normally. If that doesn't resolve the problem then disconnect all the USB devices ...
