Re: inspiron 1520 with XP I had no issues with inspiron 1520 laptop, but I had to use a few simple workarounds. 1) SP2 must be slipstreamed. -- if you don't know what it means, google it.

HDD died in my Inspiron 1520 - so I purchased a 128GB SSD sata drive. BIOS sees it - but windows XP SP2 reinstall CD does not recognize HDD. Do I have to F6 and load SATA drivers for XPSP2 ?? or is it something with the SSD (hope not)
