The BIOS on both my 2950's show CPU Virtulation as an option, although both are currently disabled. I take this as evidence that both servers will support Hyper-V. Similarly, it seems my 2850 does NOT support Hyper-V. Thanks for your help. Joe

Jan 23, 2018 · The 2950 does not support Second Level Address Translation (SLAT) which went from being an option to a requirement in Hyper-V 2016 so I was limited to 2012r2. I know that the R610 does support SLAT, though, so perhaps the R410 does as well.

Windows 2012 Hyper V isn't supported on the 2950 's or any other 9th generation Dell server. Due to its age it is only compatible on the 11gen and 12gen servers.

I am assuming you have the 2950 II or III, as they are the only two that supports quad core processors. In regards to the OS, you would need to choose either Hyper-V, XenServer, or VMware. You can't use one inside the other. Once you decide which OS you want, let us know and we can assist you in creating the Virtual Machines.
