    I have personally added IPSec kernel support to the Shibby_097 build of TomatoUSB, *including* all relevant modules, and it increased the image size 57653 bytes. DD-WRT uses the same kernel, so I expect it would be the same. Doing the bare minimum as specified above added only 8469 bytes.

DD-WRT Forum :: View topic - Solved: Linksys E2500 can not ...

    https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=318933
    Mar 06, 2019 · For dd-wrt firmware, I guess that it should verify firmware at first, then decide to if to accept the new firmware or not. Dd-wrt firmware only recognizes dd-wrt family firmware. This will let dd-wrt trapped inside its own firmware family at least for E2500 v3. I do not know if other router with dd-wrt firmware has the same problem or not.
