Dec 02, 2006 · I have already tried changing the Asus BIOS "Configure SATA as" setting from [RAID] to [standard IDE], but DBAN still listed only the SATA drives. The P5WD2 Premium has the Intel ICH7R southbridge, which I understand controls the SATA function; there is also listed an "ITE IDE controller", which supports the 2 each Ultra DMA hard disks.

May 21, 2016 · I switched from dban to nwipe a while back - basically the same thing (technically a fork) but it runs under linux instead of booting directly into it which gives it hardware support for everything that linux supports. But for SSDs the thing to do would be just issue the secure-erase command to them and let them do it internally.
