Datatables does not support this kind of grouping out of the box. But, as in many cases, there is a plugin available. It is called RowsGroup and is located here: Datatables Forums.A live example is also included.. If you change the JS part in this example to the below you will have your desired output presented to you in the output window.

jQuery DataTables only supports COLSPAN or ROWSPAN attributes in table header as long as you have at least one header cell per column. See Complex headers (rowspan and colspan) example for more details and demonstration. Officially jQuery DataTables doesn’t support COLSPAN or ROWSPAN attributes for a cell in table body.

Nov 26, 2013 · Agreed - ColReorder does not support colspan / rowspan at the moment due to the complexities it produces. Splitting cells, joining cells etc would all need to be considered. To be honest, I don't really see this being resolved in the near to medium term future. Sorry.

at least in my case there seems to be an issue with the “TablePress Extension: DataTables Buttons” and #colspan#. (haven’t checked #rowspan#) The extension does not work in various instances with #colspan#. As for the header and footer it is only not working when placing a in a cell of the last column
