Cylindrical Support in Ansys : ANSYS

Cylindrical support is defined in cylindrical coordinates. In the below picture z is axial, y is tangential and x is radial direction. You can plot the undeformed and deformed shape to better understand how the object is constrained.

Cylindrical support of shaft - ANSYS Student Community

    https://studentcommunity.ansys.com/thread/cylindrical-support-of-shaft/
Fixed at one end, 2. Cylindrical support by selecting surface shaft( tangential (free), radial (fixed) and axial (fixed).. only rotation is allowed. I got some results. If I do the same analysis by LINE BODY method instead of solidshaft, I am not able to constraint the cylindrical support. So I used fixed rotation constraint.

•Goal –Attempt to minimize the mass of the part while keeping the equivalent stress maximum below 32 MPa • Model Description –The boundary conditions have been applied as shown here –The 2 cylindrical supports are configured as: •Radial = Fixed •Axial = Fixed •Tangential = Free –The model is set up to parametrically vary the web thickness (see figure at right)

Cylindrical Support: • Provides individual controls (fixed/free) for axial, radial, or tangential constraints. • Applied on cylindrical surfaces only. Tangential …

Cylindrical Support - ANSYS: ANSYS Software Suite - Eng-Tips

The problem is when i have the new Stactic Structural model i can't place a cylindrical support. I've been reading and the issue is because i need to change the coordinate system from cartensian to cylindrical. What can i do? Here is an picture of my project. Red Flag This Post.

Cannot add a cylindrical support to a cylinder ANSYS WB 14 ...

    https://www.eng-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=353204
I have imported a .igs file into ANSYS from NX. This solid body contains a cylindrical body that I would like to apply a cylindrical support to. When I right-click on the cylinder's face, I am not given the option to insert cylindrical support. I am only given 'fixed, frictionless, compression, and elastic' support options.

Symmetry Region vs. Frictionless Support

    https://studentcommunity.ansys.com/thread/symmetry-region-vs-frictionless-support/
Aug 01, 2018 · A good example where Frictionless Support is used is on the cylindrical surface of a hole to represent that hole being mounted to a rigid shaft, which is not in the model, and gives the body with the hole rotational and axial freedom about the hole axis. I don't think you can do that with Symmetry Region. Regards,

Would a cylindrical steel beam be stronger than an I beam ...

    https://www.quora.com/Would-a-cylindrical-steel-beam-be-stronger-than-an-I-beam-that-is-common-in-construction
Jun 27, 2015 · I wouldn't prefer circular beams to I beams unless design is governed by torsion. Mostly beams are designed to resist bending and shear stress. I beams are preferred choice because its shape is designed to resist both of those aforementioned stres...
