Dec 04, 2009 · Twain is now "use at your own risk" in Photoshop. "The TWAIN plug-in for Macintosh has been removed. If you would like to have TWAIN support on your Macintosh system, we strongly recommend that you access your device through Rosetta (PPC) OS.

Apr 02, 2014 · Finally Got the TWAIN to show-up! What frustration! By reading all the suggestions here, and fiddling around for about 5 hours, I finally dragged the TWAIN.plugin I had downloaded several times both from that well-hidden "goodies" folder and through the link given by someone here--but that would not be recognized by CS4--into the Photoshop.

As you might have already known that Adobe Photoshop CS4 includes the support for TWAIN technology which enables you to control and maintain a certain image-acquisition device. Those include the scanner version of all-in-one printers and web camps.

Crashes in third party TWAIN drivers are a constant source of complaints and tech support calls. Because we can't control or fix those third party drivers, we had to make the TWAIN driver an optional install. And as noted above, there is no 64 bit TWAIN on Windows, only 32 bit.

TWAIN plug-in scanner Photoshop CS4 and later. I have Vuescan and they do provide a Vuescan Twain plugin, but better to do as you say. Twain puts Photoshop on hold until the scan completes. Best to follow your advice. There's WIA for Windows, and Import Images from Device (Mac) but both are just very basic, nothing advanced. Gene

Feb 17, 2014 · I have installed PhotoShop CS4 on my Windows 8.1 64-bit laptop. It all runs just great except that I can't use my networked Canon MX890 scanner. I can print to the networked MX890 just fine from PhotoShop and other applications on my 8.1 laptop. And I could scan from the networked MX890 just fine from PhotoShop on my XP laptop.
