    The CPU can only access the memory at the speed it was designed to do so at. The memory can only be access as quickly as it was designed. If you use faster memory then the CPU supoprts the speed is limited by the CPU.

    So then it sounds like the answer to the question is yes, MSI's memory support lists are pretty much meaningless, because it doesn't matter if a given RAM kit is on the list or not, it's still a complete gamble whether it will even run at the speed MSI claims it will, much less the speed the RAM itself is rated for.
