Oct 15, 2009 · convert: Compression algorithm does not support random access. `Amb_A7_9A_L2_25.tif' @ tiff.c/TIFFErrors/324. Neither a jpg or png is successfully generated with the original image. However these errors go away if I open the original in photoshop, save as a tiff removing the layers and using NO compression.

The version of libtiff i grab it from CVS and it's said no required hack on libjpeg, and i try just to use it by calling TIFFSetField(tiffout, TIFFTAG_COMPRESSION, COMPRESSION_OJPEG), and this seem not correct. And it's give me the below warning message : "Compression algorithm does not support random access".

Compression algorithm does not support random access.Data was written in a non-sequential order to a file that uses a compression algorithm and that has RowsPerStrip greater than one. That is, data in the image is to be stored in a compressed form, and with multiple rows packed into a strip.

The cause is that non-intergral rotation does not read from disk sequentially and random disk access is very slow as compared to memory. PIL holds as much of the image in memory (including swap) to take advantage of the fast swapping algorithms handled by the kernel.

PNG was designed for transferring images on the Internet, not for professional-quality print graphics, and therefore does not support non-RGB color spaces such as CMYK. JPEG 2000 code streams are regions of interest that offer several mechanisms to support spatial random access or region of interest access at varying degrees of granularity.
