If the license for the instant client allows this, it will work. However to my knowledge this will not enable you to dynamically load the DLLs as for mysql/psql. If you compile tora without Oracle support the instant client DLLs will never be loaded, with Oracle support compiled in you will always need the DLLs.

Aug 21, 2007 · I think that you should compile from tora source for Oracle connection. ... Assuming that you've downloaded TOra with OCI support, this could mean that TOra is not seeing the OCI client drivers and therefore not presenting you with an option to connect via an Oracle client driver.
