Dec 14, 2007 · Jumbo Frame Support. Gigabit Ethernet interfaces on Cisco Catalyst 5000 and 6000 switches support jumbo frames, which have an MTU of 9,216 bytes. Support for jumbo frames for the Catalyst 6000 family ATM module (WS-X6101) is available as of Cisco IOS Software Release 12.1(10)E, as per the Release Notes.

Jumbo frame support is available in Cisco IOS Software Release 12.1(13)EW and later for the Supervisor III and IV. On the 4000/4500 platform, jumbo frames are supported only on non-blocking Gigabit Ethernet ports on certain blade models.

3) If jumbo frames support is configured on switch but the egress port towards an 1841 router is 100MB , I understand the frames will get dropped. Is there any way to solve this issue. If the link to the router is upgraded to gigabit will the frame pass thru the egress port to the router ? will the router fragement and route it onward ? Thanks
