Cisco Unified Communications Manager 5.0 and later versions when you use Cisco IP Communicator with SIP call-control protocol. So according to this it should be compatible but when trying to set up the config on CME you don't have an option for CIPC when setting up with SIP.

Apr 28, 2010 · Does 3CX Support the Cisco IP Communicator, I can only seen Cisco SPA phones in the provision list and a quick google search doesnt reveal anything. By default the Cisco IP Communicator is set to SCCP but it can be configured to SIP tho I'm not sure how to achieve this with out Cisco CM.
