Nov 15, 2011 · The SUP32-3c says it supports both L2VPN and L2TPv3, however the line cards are effectively 6500 line cards and I was under the impression the 6500 didn't support these. If the supervisor supports a feature does that mean it is globally supported on a switch?

Implementing a L2TPV3 Tunnel on Catalyst 6500's Did you try using the Cisco supplied tool called the "feature navigator" to see if the platfom you have supports L2TPV3? When I was considering using this feature I discovered that I did not have the right combination of hardware to make this work.

Implementing a L2TPV3 Tunnel on Catalyst 6500's You mentioned the backbone is running MPLS, then you can run EoMPLS. Cat6k does not support L2TPv3 but it does support EoMPLS.

L2TPv3 is not supported under Catalyst 6500. Catalyst 6500 only supports EoMPLS. If you need to extend your Vlan with Catalyst 6500, you need to have a MPLS backbone between locations.
