After updating Chrome to version 70.0.3538.67. I am experiencing the same issue in that it now prompts for user and password authentication. In my previous version of Chrome, version 69.0.3497.100, the behaviour was as expected in that authenticated domain users credentials would automatically get passed without the user being prompted.
