The previous owners had taken out the chimney breasts up to the bedroom ceilings and not up through the loft. The remaining brickwork was just resting on a joist in the loft, the chimney was obviously leaning when you looked from outside and it had caused roof damage in the immediate area of the chimney.

Hi. I have just bought a house and moved in. I was doing an inspection of the attic and saw that the chimney is not supported properly. Support the chimney breast in the loft by securing gallows brackets under the chimney. Make good the walls in the home with new blocks, plasterboard, skirting boards etc as required. Make good the hearth by levelling off the floor.
