Many of you might’ve re-encoded the video file into another format but it is not necessary as the problem here is that your TV is incompatible with the audio-stream and not the video.

Not only did it not work, now I my Phillips TV is now saying "format not supported" and won't show my PCs image on the screen even without the Y-splitter. In other words I connected it like previously had it and it still gives me the "format not supported" message.

The cause of resolution not supported message on your TV has to do with the image size you are trying to put on the TV screen and your TV’s ability to accept and display that picture. VIZIO HDTV’s are compatible with many different standard resolutions ( or picture sizes ). Each model may vary in its ability to display different image sizes.

So while no transcoding is being done (the raw video and audio streams are the same), the container for them is presented as something else, such as MP4. XBMC currently does not do this.4/5(1)
