Mar 02, 2006 · I just installed centOS 4.2, and discovered that it does not have reiserFS support. I downloaded the vanilla kernel src and compiled a new kernel, added some rows to grub.conf - But my new kernel doesn't boot.

Dec 15, 2010 · If you are getting mount: unknown filesystem type ‘reiserfs’ which means that your kernel does not support the reiserfs file-system and it will resolve if you install the centos-plus kernel which has the reiserfs support in-build. Install the reiserfs-utils # yum install reiserfs-utils

I have a slow database performance, simple INSERT queries takes much more time on my own server than on a simple GoDaddy Centos 5.8 32bit server. I've seen that the database files on the GoDaddy server are on a reiserFS file system. Do you have any idea what can be the problem ? Or how can I tune the ext4 file system to Database performance ?

Sep 22, 2010 · I believe CentOS doesn't provide ReiserFS support in the stock kernel (or as a module). IIRC, you need to enable the CentOS Plus repositories and install the kernel from there.
