Oct 01, 2004 · The hdisk is formatted (empty) and I'm trying to boot from the floppy with a W98 start-up disk. The system boots from the floppy normally. I choose to start with cdrom support and it starts to run the mscdex but I have the message that it can't find the MSCD001 device and aborts cd installation.

Aug 25, 2006 · Thing is. I CAN boot from the Win98 CD but when I start the installationsequence it sais it can't find the CD drivers when trying to install them, and then it quits. Same thing if I just run the floppy boot disk and try to start with CD-rom support. I believe that's beacause it tryes to install drivers for a IDE driver. But I don't really know.

Apr 27, 2005 · Bought an External PCMCIA CD-ROM Drive model ECD-600M-16 and the PCMCIA card is model EPC-9008 I want to boot up with a Startup disc, and have PCMCIA support for the CD-ROM so i can install Windows 98SE. Of course trying a normal Windows 98 Startup disc doesnt work as these only have drives for IDE drives and not PCMCIA.

Dec 29, 2007 · I've got a Windows 98 startup disk in a: and a Windows 98 CD waiting patiently in the CD-ROM drive. (Alas, although the Win98 startup diskette contains generic CD drivers they don't work with the PCMCIA card CD drive. It says so in the readme.txt file.) I've managed to update the Win98 startup disk to successfully load the PCMCIA card services.

Driver automatically installed, Device Manager and inserted USB device (indicated in lower left corner, for "safely remove hardware" function) sees it (identified as "PCMCIA ATAPI/IDE CONTROLLER". Both PCMCIA ATAPI/IDE Controller and ENE CB1410 CardBus controller drivers are up to date.
