Feb 24, 2012 · Yes Cat 5e supports Gigabit practically, and was designed for it, anything faster can cause problems. Cat 6 was designed for 10 Gibabit so you have roonm to upgrade. Nov 17, 2013 · Yes the cat5 / cat5e can work in 1gbps for 100 meters but it also depends on your router or switch if it is capable of 1gbps as well. it will indicate 10/100/1000base-t in the ethernet port if you will see the box from your switch or router.
