The computer running slow is unlikely to be helped (much) by putting on the 64-bit version unless you have some software specifically that is 64-bit and/or you have more than 4GB of memory and are actually using it all (doubtful for most people) right now.

In General: If you use less than 4 GB of RAM go with 32-bit before you install the 64-bit version of Windows. If you use more than 4 GB of RAM go with 64-bit.
