Aug 11, 2009 · Best Answer: A VGA cable will transmit a 1080p signal with no problem, VGA as a video standard will not do 1080p (1920x1080 pixels), the 2 post before me is getting VGA resolution (limited to 640x480 pixels) mixed up with VGA cable.

Mar 15, 2008 · That doesn't support 1080p over VGA either, so he had it over component at 1080i (he claimed 1080p didn't work over component either, didn't check myself). 720p via VGA on my crusty old Sammy looks miiiiiles better! Be a different story if he had an Elite at 1080p via HDMI of course.

Oct 06, 2012 · I've run 1280x1024@60Hz by VGA to various monitors on various computers (my MBP and two desktop PCs to a CRT or an LCD). I've connected my MBP to my 1080p TV with VGA to test out cables (I have at least 3 and most showed some ghosting. I think there was one good one). According to Wikipedia, VGA can support up to 2048x1536px @85 Hz or more.
