Feb 07, 2010 · Component cables can in theory support 1080p, but in practice are limited to 720p or 1080i. Note that HD cable programming is only in 720p or 1080i, not 1080p. Only a few on-demand satellite programs are 1080p.

Oct 29, 2010 · "Component cables" normally refer to a set of three cables that carry analog television signals. There is an HD format for analog component signals but it does not support 1080p, only 1080i and 720p. In addition, equipment being sold from 2009 onwards does not support analog HD.

But yes, out of all tv brands, Samsung is the most consistent with having 1080p support for component and vga, while most other tvs limit it to HDMI, not even vga half the time. Bioshock CAN run in 1080p. I believe it is one of the first 360 titles to do so.

Jul 08, 2012 · It could be that the TV only accepts 1080p via a digital signal (HDMI cables are more expensive to sell you than component). Not really sure, seems a bit odd to me. If you say you got it on the old TV and not the new one using the same setup otherwise, odds are something about the new TV is now allowing it to go through as a progressive signal.

Jul 13, 2007 · The 1080i signal is from a comcast cable box, or my sony upconverting dvd player. My DLP has 2 hdmi inputs, but one is really for a pc hook-up(only has birhgtness, contrast tint for the settings, where as HDMI1 has settings to change individual colors, and other specs.) What I found out was that all 3 of my component can receive 1080i...

Apr 10, 2007 · Straight coax cable is not going to carry 1080i. IF you are out of component input at your receiver, get a component switcher with more inputs. Or if you don't care to get HD from Dish Network, you can just run the crappy coax into your tv direct.
