Mar 11, 2012 · To be sure you'd really have to go Cat6a according to Wikipedia. If you're unlucky you'll only get a maximum cable length of 37m and you have to be careful when bending it and stuff. Cat6A is a lot more resilient, and you can go up to 100m cable distance in all situations.

Oct 07, 2014 · Officially, 10Gb runs over Cat6 up to around 55m without any bundles of cable iirc (and 35m if bundled), and on Cat6a to 100m. 10GBASE-T makes use of transmissions of 500MHz which needs better cable. You might get it running over short distances on Cat5e but check the counters on the switch and NIC for any errors, or run a proper tester if you have one.
